These Snacks = Bad Dog Food!
You know what? There is some bad dog food out there and it is disguised as people food! You like it and it might even be good for you, but not necessarily for me - it could even be toxic! Some of us are finicky eaters and others fall into that category I like to call "goat dogs!" We will eat just about anything! And, if you don't watch us carefully, we can be sneaky. Personally, I have indeed overdone it on occasion. The memory of sneaking up on that big baking pan of chicken enchiladas and stealing it off the kitchen counter keeps coming back to me! I did leave one! Whew, really stuffed! But, as a founding member of the "Goat Dog Society," I have also eaten some really bad dog food and, fortunately, have lived to tell the story! No need for your pup to suffer!
Goat Dogs Beware!
Here are some people foods you must help us to avoid:* Alcoholic beverages (please keep the party to yourself!) * Avocado * Chocolate (all forms) * Coffee (all forms) * Cooked bones (can splinter and hurt us) * Garlic * Grapes and raisins (potential kidney failure in quantity) * Macadamia nuts * Mushrooms * Onions and onion powder * Raw or undercooked meat (can you say, "salmonella?") * Rich or fatty foods * Salmon (if a certain parasite is present) * Salt * Spoiled or moldy foods (yuck, but watch us goat dogs!) * Yeast dough, rising bread dough Just play it totally safe and leave a good quality dog food in the bowl and the human food (bad dog food) on the table and away from us. And, if unsure about anything, check with your dog's Doc before giving it a try. Remember, we rely on you for our safety and our good health!
