Getting Dog Supplies Right!
The dog supplies you use to outfit your pal must be done right. And, when I say outfit, this is pretty far from what I mean...

I Prefer a Hat!
You can comfortably and appropriately welcome your dog into your home without spending a lot of money, if you just maintain some good dog-sense. Part of this depends upon whether you have a new puppy or are bringing home an adult, house-broken dog. I remember when I first came home as a puppy, among my dog supplies was a dog crate. My family used the crate to train me to go to the bathroom outside. I also have fond memories of it as my indoor dog house!
What are the Necessities?
Essentially, the necessities are these:* Dog collar with ID tag * Leash * Two dishes - for dog food and water * A place to eat (good for us to have a regular routine) * A couple dog toys * Brush (use regularly, especially if your dog has long hair) * Dog bed (his own place to sleep, can just be a cardboard box) * Dog shampoo - if I hear the word "bath," I don't hang around! But, if you must, I recommend Epi-Soothe Oatmeal Shampoo
Optional
* Doggie nail clippers (touch me and die! I only let the Vet's office do this)* A couple more dog toys (don't get carried away) * Dog insurance (you don't want to see my medical bill to remove six bladder stones!) * Obedience classes *
Dog fence
(depending upon your situation)
Necessary or Not?
Probably not!*
Dog clothes
(not my thing, but go ahead if you want your dog to hate you!)
Some Basics
There are a few other dog-sense "basics" to keep in mind. Make sure your pal has fresh, clean water available at all times and has a good, balanced diet. Pick out a good Veterinarian. Schedule a yearly check-up which will also take care of all the necessary shots needed. Your dog's Doc is your best source of doggie information - yes, even better than the Sensitive Brown Dog! Of course, you need to provide a safe and secure environment, along with your love and time - be sure your pal regularly gets plenty of exercise. We can get a little nutty without enough activity! There is no need to spend a lot of money or get too elaborate with your dog supplies You can use dog-sense too!
