Surf's Up! Let's Go Dog Surfing!
As I began to think and write about dog sports, dog surfing was probably one of the last activities I had in my dog head! As a brown dog who enjoys a fun time with my family as much as the next pup, I have to admit, I don't think I have enough Lab blood in my mix to enjoy swimming. So, it takes a little extra courage to tell you about this unique dog sport. After taking a hard look at this, it really looks like fun. If you are fortunate to live near a coast, and your guy doesn't have an aversion to water, you may want to consider starting him on some gentle, easy waves.
Go For It!
If you discover your guy is a natural on the water, you may even want to think about getting him into a competitive event. One such event is the Loews Coronado Bay Resort Surf Dog Competition just completed at Imperial Beach, California -- near San Diego.

"Dude, that's sick!"
It is a free surf dog event where more than 1,000 spectators assemble to watch my brown dog brethren (and others) ride the foam. If your guy isn't so good on his board, he can even get a few lessons. To learn more about the fun you can have at such an event and to also see some gnarley videos, just click on

Get your guy out there on a board and practice -- you'll be ready for the next event!
