Is There a Frisbee Dog
in Your Family?

A frisbee dog loves to run and play an endless game of fetch. You probably have a guy that has the potential to enjoy that game too, if he likes to play fetch.

The really cool thing about this is that it is fun for everyone. People love to throw the frisbee and we love to run and play! It can be good exercise for both of us!

"I'm really supposed to run
and catch that round thing?"

Tips to Get Started

Here are a few quick points to help you get started. Remember, this is fun... plenty of praise and if your dog gets bored or is not interested, just stop and resume your training session on another day:

  • Get your dog used to the frisbee by just playing some gentle toss and fetch. Just pitch it around and get him used to playing with it, but don't let him enjoy it as a chew toy.
  • Keep the tosses short and don't expect him to catch until after he gets used to playing simple fetch and return.
  • Once fetch and return is going well, begin tossing it to him from about three feet (or a meter) away and see how he does catching it.
  • As he gets better at catching it, gradually increase the distance.

Continue this three-to-four times a week and before you know it, you will have a frisbee dog!

What if You Have a Frisbee Dog Athlete?

Frisbee is a really fun sport to be involved in with your fella.

It's not only great exercise for the two of you, but you can also enjoy friendships and competition through clubs and events where you can show off your skill:

Ok, so as the trainer, you may still need to limit the pizza, but great exercise and fun nonetheless! Get out there!
